Mr H. P. Leng Retires

Mr H. P. Leng has resigned from the position of preacher at the local branch of the Church of Christ (Maunu Road), and next Sunday evening will probably be his last appearance on the platform in .that capacity. Advancing years and failing health are his reasons for this action, and he intends to live in retirement’ at Te Hana, where he had his headquarters when ministering to the Northern Union Churches of Christ.

The church in Whangarei has made rapid strides under his ministry, and created something of a record in being able to move into its own brick-faced building in Maunu Road in February, 1937, just twelve months after the commencement of Mr Long’s initial mission. Continued progress has been maintained and arrangements are in hand for the appointment of a full-time pastor at a very early date. An evangelist, who has recently come to New Zealand from England will probably be appointed ,to the position. ■ \
