The National Executive of the Labour Party has endorsed the candidature of Mr P. K. Piakea. for the Northern Maori scat, and Mr Maturangi for the Eastern Maori seat. Mr Piakea is secretary of the Maori Advisory Council. He contested the Northern Maori seat in 1933, but was unsuccessful,

The Northern Maori electorate is at present represented by Mr Tau Hen are, and the Eastern Maori electorate by the Hon, Sir Apirana Ngata, both of whom are Nationalists.
