Centre Sheep Dog Trial Championships

Perfect weather conditions prevailed for the opening day of the centre championships on the Bay Sheep Dog Trial Club’s course at Ohaeawai yesterday. There was a particularly good attendance. competitors from .as far afield as Feilding being present. The course is classed as one of the best in New Zealand, and dogs have to be on their best behaviour to get amongst the prizes. Only one event, the long head, was completed yesterday, there being 29 entries. The trials arc being continued to-day.

The result of the long-head event was as follows: —D. Ariell’s "Tyke.” 424 points, 1; Mac. Mackenzie’s "Donald,” 42 points. 2; J. E. White’s "Sharp," 414 pts„ 3; G. H. While’s “Macready.” 394 points, 4.
