Defendant pleaded guilty, and was represented by Mr L. A. Johnson. “I certainly do prefer a man to do what 'this man has done and find a quiet place to sleep it off,” said the magistrate. “Whichever way you look at it, however, defendant will be severely punished. He is a truck-driver and will lose his job. lam prepared to consider fines in cases such as this.” Defendant was fined £ls on Uiti drunkenness charge, with 10/ costs, his license being cancelled for 18 months, while on the charge of failing to have a certificate of fitness he was fined £l, with 10/ costs.
