Archdeacon Simpkin, of Auckland, arrived by the express this afternoon and will address the annual meeting of Christ Church parishioners on matters of diocesan interest.

Dr.' E; B. Gunson announced last evening that he did not intend to proceed .with his candidature as an Independent' for the Remuera seat, formerly Parnell, at the next general election. Dr. Gunson gave no intimation of his reasons. The sitting member is Mr W. P. Endean, who has held, the seat in the Reform and National interests since 1930.

Cabled advice announce the election of Mr J. W. Mawson; of Wellington, as a fellow of the Institute of Land State Architects ot England. Mr Mawson is town planning officer attached to the Department of Internal Affairs.
