Bay Of Islands Rugby Results

Results in the Bay of Islands Rugby competitions on Saturday were; — Seniors. —Kaikohe 28, Kerikeri 0: Otiria 21, Kawakawa 0. Juniors. —Kaikohe 11, Oromahoe 0: Ohaeawai 8, Taumerere 9.

Kaikohe pulled off a good double at the opening of the Bay competition on Saturday. In the junior contest on their home ground they outclassed Kerikeri by 28 points in a game noticeable for its complete absence of anything approaching rough play. The amalgamating of the two last year’s clubs, “Green and Gold” and Te-Iringa, with Kaikohe juniors has given a great fillip to the local club, and spectators this year will be assured of their shilling’s worth in both senior and junior contests. The seniors proved decidedly superior to Kerikeri, who, on their own ground, were unable to field their strongest team. The victors, fielding their best team for years, were super-

ior in every department and, considering this was their first match, showed particularly good combination, with an occasional bright spot of individualism. . ■ Harding, Kaikohe’s new half-back, promises to be a tower of strength to this year’s seniors. He got' the ball away smartly and cleanly, and is always handy when wanted. Otiria, compiling 21 against Kawakawa (0), had it all their own- way for the greater portion of the game.!
