Achilles Suffered Little Damage

Following an examination, it hasbeen revealed that the only damage to the H.M.S. Achilles in the collision wdh the Ranga'tira on Thursday night was confined to the ship’s propellers.

It is not yet certain whether the Achilles will be clocked here. It is possible she may proceed to Auckland before this is done.

The Rangatira’s anchor and 15 fathoms of cable have been recovered from the harbour bottom.

The report of the preliminary inquiry, opened on Saturday morning by the Superintendent of Mercantile Marine, will be forwarded to the Minister of Marine, the Hon. P. Fraser.
