Petrol Explodes; Man Burned
[Special To “Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day.
While filling the tank of a launch on Thursday night, Mr Raymond Upton Sanford, of Ponsonby, received bad burns as a result'- of the ignition of petrol fumes. A passer-by, hearing an explosion about 10 o’clock, looked over the western wall and saw the launch in flames, and Mr Sanford with his clothes on fire.
While a fire brigade was being called, Mr Sanford dived ovei’board and extinguished his burning clothes. Coming back to the launch, he put out the fire, and was sitting in the cabin a trifle dazed when the brigade arrived. Mr Sanford was taken to hospital. His condition is not serious.
