The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. V/. S. Morrison, speaking to the Central Landowners’ Association, emphasised the importance of livestock farmingin the country’s defence policy. “In respect to emergency agricultural plans for war,’’ he said, “we are in an infinitely better state of preparedness than, in 1914. The Government plan is to develop the commodity, prosperity and price structure of agriculture, believing that, if the farmers are given the chance, they will produce food as it.is required.”
