OTAIKA. Miss Jean Girling, of Auckland, is spending a holiday at Otaika Valley as the guest of Mrs T. Edge. Mrs and Mr C. Cabman, accompanied by their daughter, until recently of Maungatapere. are visiting Mrs Cadman's mother. Mrs H. Tavinor. at Otaika Valley, prior to their departure next week io spend a holiday in Sydney. Mrs and Mr H. Kilford. of Takapau, Hawke’s Bay, are holidaying at Otaika Valley, and are the guests of their son, Mr R. Kilford.

Mr N. Kingstonc, of Dominion Road, Auckland, is spending Ms annual vacation with relatives at Otaika Valley.

An item of local interest from Australia is the announcement of the appointment of Mr W. H. Forth, son of Mr and Mrs J. Forth, of Otaika. by the South Australian Methodist Conference. as Home Missioner for Kangaroo Island. Mr W. Forth left Otaika and New Zealand some three years ago. The third of the series of social evenings run by the local Labour Party Committee was held at the home of Mr and Mrs J, Dwyer, senr.. on Saturday evening. VICTORIA VALLEY. Visitors to Victoria Valley during the week-end were Mrs Danby and daughters Clarice and Avis, of Auckland, and Mr Ken Fraser and Miss M. Fraser, of London. They were the guests of Mrs W. Thompson. Mr Doug. Gallagher visited the Valley at the week-end Mr Eddie White is on a flying visit to Auckland. Mrs Cedric Thompson, of Awaniii. is spending a few days with Mrs W. Thompson. WAIOTIRA. Mr F. Jones, of Waiotira. is an inmate of the Whangarei Hospital. Mr P. Cubitt, herd testing officer, of Waipu, and Mr H. Field, herd testing officer, Whangarei, stayed at Waiotira on. Tuesday night, en route to Hamilton to attend the herd testing meeting. Mrs Cubitt accompanied them as far as Auckland. TOWAI. The ladies’ committee of the Towai Agricultural Association held a meeting to discuss and arrange all items necessary in connection with the show dinner, to be held in April. There was quire a good attendance of members, and all details were settled very 'satis'factorily. At the usual monthly meeting of the W.D.F.U.. there was a disappointingly poor attendance. The afternoon was taken up finalising arrangements for the annual meeting in April, and also for the birthday novelty ball. The children of the district spent a wonderful day at Whananaki. for their annual picnic. Swimming races, etc., wore the order of the .day. Miss Marjorie Brown is progressing very favourably after her operation at Kawakawa Hospital. Mrs E. V. Ralls is on holiday, convalescing after her recent illness. Mr J. Murray has returned to Towai after his annual holiday, spent in visiting relations. ? Mrs Phillips has returned to her home at Pokeno after spending a few days with Mrs J. Inglis. KAIKOHE. Mr A. McCroady lias returned, after spending a short holiday, and has taken up his position in the Post Office. Miss E. Hildor lias returned, after spending a holiday in Otorohanga. Miss J. MA UN G A K A.R AME A. , The March meeting of iho Maungnkaramea W.D.F.U. was held in the pavilion, on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Pur don took the chair, owing to the unavoidable absence of Mrs Babe, the president. There was a fair attendance. Suggestions were called for demonstrations for the coming year, and also for the birthday party. A presentation was made to Mrs G. Price, who is leaving the district. Hostesses for the afternoon wore Mcsdames T. E. Churches, F. Walker, •and W. H. Gillingham. Mrs G. A. Harvey is on a holiday visit to Auckland. Miss Nola Woodcock, who lias been an inmate of the Whangarci Hospital lor several weeks, is home again. Mr and Mrs T, W. Hannam. senr.. of Auckland, have returned home after spending a short holiday with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs T. W. Hannam. Mrs Beddgood, from Waimate, is visiting her daughter, Mrs F. Mr Selwyn Roos spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs Russell Smith of East End. Ho left on Monday morning. en route to Hastings.
