MAROHEMO. Recently a very enjoyable evening was tendered Mr and Mrs Ronald Bull at the Marohemo Halt Mr T. Hill expended a hearty welcome to Mrs Bull, who is a newcomer to the district, and congratulated Mr Bull on his recent marriage, wishing them both a Xau share of the good things in life. Mr Sutherland, on behalf of Otamatea Rugby Union, expressed appreciation of the help Mr Bull has always been in football circles, and Mr Fred Robertson, on behalf of the Marohemo team, presented him with a handsome clock. 1 ' , ■ Mr Bull made suitable acknowledgi ment. ! Dancing was enjoyed, and 3 dainty supper served by the ladles and members of the football club. A successful dance in aid of hall funds was held on Friday'evening.

TAKAHUE. Miss J. Veale, who,has been staying with her sister, Mrs B. Wright, left on Tuesday for Hokitika. Mr and Mrs P. McCullough, who have been visiting TaknbueV have returned to Auckland, Mr F. Wilson has returned io Takahue after an extended holiday in the South Island, Miss S. McCullough has relumed to Auckland, after visiting her parents at Takahue. Mrs Nelson, who has spent two months with* Mr and Mrs J. McCullough, has returned to Auckland-. A .card evening was held at the home of Mr and Mrs B. Wright last week, Mr J. Wright won the prize for top score, and Mr D. Saunders the consolation prize.

AHIPARA. After an absence of some months. Mr R. Robinson has returned to the district. Mr, F. A. Mathias and Mr J. WBlakely, of Waipiata, together with Mr F. F. Greer and! Mr R. I. Beattie, of Patearoa, Central Otago, were visitors to the beach over the week-end. Mr and Mrs W. Ford and Miss Kathleen Ford, of Takahue, were week-end visitors. ■ The Rev. Hadfield has. had to go to Auckland to undergo a medical examination in connection with an injury received in the Great War, where he saw extensive. service, being a victim of gas poisoning at Passchendaele. Miss Ngay/aka, of the Whangape School, has been promoted to the Mianakau School, where she is to take up the. position vacated by Miss Mercia Urlich. KERIKERI. Mrs. A. E. Birchall and small son have returned home from Kawakaws. A smoke concert, which was also 'a birthday evening and farewell to Selwyn Roos, was held at Mr O,; Best’s home on. Saturday evening,' During the evening' Mr McCarthy, on behalf of the staff of R. Cleave and Co..'presented Selwyn with a silver wristlet watch, referring , to his three and ahalf years' service with 'the firm. After several speeches, the' birthday cake was cut and a bountiful supper served. The evening closed with the singing of “For He’s a Jolly Good Follow,”

TAHEKE. Miss B. Moore left on Friday for a holiday, which she will spend with her parents at Wellsford. 1 v. ■ Mr Nettlefold. is spending a short holiday in Auckland. , Mr and Mrs G. R. Gogdhew, are Spending v a few days with Mr Goodhew’s parents before leaving for Kaitaia, where they will, reside in'future. KOHUKOHU. Mcsdames Pfeil and Watson, gave a most enjoyable evening at Mr and Mrs C. W. Pfeil’s residence. Motukaraka, on Thursday last, the object being to further the candidature of the. Motukaraka baby (Jacqueline Harris), in the Popular Baby Carnival being conducted* by the Plunket Society. The evening was spent in cards, community singing and competitions, the latter being of an original character. Songs were, contributed; bv Me;> dames C, Bowler and H. L. Stoddart, A,most delightful supper was served by the hostesses, and so concluded a most successful evening, both financially and socially. v
