Contracts Let For 100 State Houses Weekly

r Per Press Association Copyright .} WELLINGTON, This Day. “Building construction under the Government housing scheme is proceeding in 48 towns,” said the Under-Secretary-in-Charge'of Housing, Mr J. A. Lee, yesterday. Contracts are now being let at the rate of 100 houses per week. If this should be maintained, the total for the year will be 5200 houses.” Mr Lees said the only obstacle to that achievement would be a lack of skilled builders. Meanwhile, the rate, of building construction was well over 50 per cent above the peak level. Output was being rapidly accelerated.
