Paparoa Golf Club

The sixth annual general meeting of the Paparoa Golf Club attracted a good muster of members on Thursday evening. In the absence of the president, Mr J. C. Christie, a vicepresident, Mr P. F. Stratford, was elected to the chair. The annual report and balancesheet. as submitted by the secretary, Mr A. H. Dallas, showed a healthy state of affairs, with a cash balance of over £2O, and a surplus of assets over liabilities amounting to approximately £SO. Despite a drop in the membership, the club had held its own financially, and prospects were bright for the coming season. After the adoption of the report and balace-sheet, a long discussion ensued on a proposal to dispense with three holes and play on a six-hole course for the coming season. The proposal was defeated, and an amendment carried, empowering the incoming committee to re-design the links for nine holes. The election of officer'- resulted: — President, Mr P. F. Sir, .ford, ;/icepresidents, Messrs T. W. Wright and

, C. Stevens; ladies’ captain, Mrs Stratford; men’s captain, Mr M. D. O’Shea: umpire and. referee, Mr O. Dodds, secretary and treasurer. Mr A. H. Dallas; committee, Messrs J. J. Sutherland, J. Maris. Mrs C. Stevens. Mrs O’Shea, Miss E. Fenwick: green superintendent. Mr J. J. Sutherland; auditor. Mr T. C. Aickin. Subscriptions were fixed at 35 - Cur men and 15 - for ladies, and the veiling day was fixed for April 23. It was decided to have a general mewing of the club early in May to consider the question of the annual ball. Debentures owing to members were discussed by the meeting, and it was decided to pay off the full amount during the coming season. On Sunday the committee inspected the property owned by Mr T. G. Sutherland, and it was decided to discuss at a meeting, of the committee to be held on Monday evening tho possibility of transferring tho links from their present location to Mr Sutherlands, Members of the committee were of the opinion that the proposed new course would, on account of its proximity to Paparoa, result in an increased membership.
