GETTING TOO MIXED UP WITH AUCKLAND?
The Whangarei County Council today received a letter from the Auckland Provincial Committee of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition, stating that it had been decided tha t a space of 50ft. by 50ft. at Wellington should be aimed at. ■ The estimated cost of organising »■ • the provincial court, was approximately £5000; covering actual space, plus freights, cost of erection, architectural fees, organising fees,' attendance at court, publicity booklets,, etc. It • was expected that the funds Would be mainly forthcoming from local authorities and various associations and corporations connected With the typical industries of the provincial district. '■■ i , ;;A paid organiser Would have to be engaged,in all probability. The next meeting of the Provincial Committee would probably be held at Auckland oil Monday, February 28. | The chairman was appointed to represent the council at the meeting to be Held on February 28. i “I don’t know whether we should get too mixed up with the Auckland organisation,” Mr Mac Kay remarked, “tart- ■it might be wise to be represented at the, first meeting. Probably, after that, we will ‘be in a better position to judge whether we should tike any part in an Auckland provincial court, or confine our interests to a Northland court.” Blake: Before going to Auckland, our representatives should first confer with the Northland organisation which has been appointed. ;The chairman: It is difficult to know what the other local bodies in the area will. do. Mangonui, Dargaville and Whangarei sent representatives to the last meeting at Auckland.
