Buying at the fat stock sale at Westfield yesterday was much steadier, values being firm in all departments except calves. There was a
general improvement in quality. Heavy stock came forward in large numbers, the best realising £l4 15/,
compared with £ls 10/ a week ago. Individual quotations, however, were generally firm, cows bringing up to £l2 12/6 as compared with £ll at the .former market. The average values were from 20/ to 40/ per lOOlbs.
Late rates wore maintained, with strong competition in the pig sale. Quality for a large yarding was well up to standard. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: Beef. —Extra choice ox, 40/- per 100

Extra heavy prime wethers, £1 7/- to £1 9/-; heavy prime, £1 G/6 to £1 7/6; medium to heavy prime, £1 5/- to £1 G/-; light to medium prime, £1 3/6 to £1 4/6; unfinished, £1 1/- to £1 2/6; extra heavy prime young ewes, £1 to £1 2/-; heavy prime, 18/- to 19/-; lighter prime, 16/- to 17/6; other killable ewes, 14/- to 15/6; other ewes, 7/6 to 13/-; extra heavy prime lambs, £1 5/to £1 6/6; heavy prime, £1 3/- to £1 4/-; lighter prime, £1 1/6 to £1 2/6; light prime, 19/- to £1; small and plain, 8/6 to 16/6. Calves. —Runners made from £2 10/- to £6 12/6; heavy vealers, £4 4/- to £4 11/-; medium, £3 6/- to £3 12/-; light, £2 9/- to £2 14/-; smaller, £1 13/- to £2; unfinished and bucket fed, 16/- to £1 6/-; bobby calves, 5/- to 14/-. Pigs.—-Choppers, £2 15/- to £4 4/-; heavy prime baconers, £3 16/- to £4; medium, £3 8/- to £3 12/-; light, £3 2/- to £3 5/-; heavy porkers, £2 15/to £2 18/-; medium, £2 7/- to £2 10/-; light, £2 2/- to £2 5/-;' small and unfinished, £1 10/- to £1 IG/-; stores, £1 2/- to £1 8/-; slips, 17/- to 20/-; weaners, 9/- to 13/-; baconers averaged 6d per lb and porkers about j 6:]d per lb.
£3 19/6, average per lb., 54d to G^d*. Store pigs.—The market was from 2/- to 3/- per head better. Weaners made 15/- to 22/-; slips, 23/- to 26/-; stores, 32/- to 37/6.
