(Received 1 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The New Zealand cruiser Leander berthed at Port'*Melbourne yesterday in a fierce thunderstorm. Smashed planking on the galley, a boat, and broken crockery and fittings in the mess rooms and galleys, told of storms in the Tasman. For more than 24 hours the cruiser had rolled and pitched in huge seas. Two boats were torn from their lashings, while another was staved In.
