Mr W. N. Norwood, general manager of the Dominion Motors, Ltd., 'rind Mrs Norwood, arrived back in New Zealand by the Monterey on Friday last. They were welcomed in Auckland by Mr W. D. Gordon, with whom they returned to Wellington.

Mr J. Murray, secretary of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association, left by the Limited Express last night for Palmerston North, where he will attend a meeting of the Dairy Research Management Committee.

Mr Tom Brooker, of Russell, who has been laid up since July, paid a visit to Whangarei today, after a trip down the coast, during which, he visited many places which brought back vivid memories of the old days.

Miss Lucy M. Cranwell, botanist at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, has been awarded a Fellowship of the Linnaean Society, London. Miss Cranwell received the Fellowship in recognition of botanical research work done both in New Zealand and Sweden, and because of the effort she had made to stimulate interest in botany through her position at the Auckland Museum.

Mr R. W. Bond, of the sub-editorial staff of the “Dominion,” Wellington, arrived in Whahgarei this afternoon, accompanied by Mrs Bond and their Infant daughter. They are the guests of Mrs Bond’s parents, Mr and Mrs F. Higginson, Hospital Boad.

Miss H. E. Russell, matron of the Nurse Cavell Memorial Hospital, Paparoa, was farewelled by the Kaipara Hospital Board prior to her departure for Australia. The chairman, Mr P. R. Walden, and other members of the board expressed appreciation of the services she had rendered and regret at her departure. Miss E. McGibbon, sister-in-charge of the Nurses’ Home, Masterton, has been appointed matron.
