MISS MITCHELL SAILS THIS AFTERNOON

When the Awatea sails for Sydney late this afternoon there will bo no happier passenger than Miss Mary Mitchell, of Dargaville, the girl javelin thrower, who, owing to an attack | of German measles, was unable to accompany the New Zealand Empire Games team when it sailed at the end cf last week for Sydney. Since then, she created, a sensation by walking out of the Wellington Hospital and returning by train to Auckland last week. Miss Mitchell has *been living in isolation with friends at Devonporl. Today she looks the picture of health. “I will do my best to win a title for New Zealand,” she said ’‘Yes. I did have German measles, but only in a mild form. I have been overhauled by an official of the Health Department and he has pronounced me all right. “I am not supposed to bo out of isolation until tomorrow, however, and have been advised to keep to myself as much as possible on the boat. I will be relieved when the Awatea is at sea.”
