Spotlight 0n... Mr. Lloyd George
Mr David Lloyd George and Dame Lloyd George have celebrated their golden wedding. Mr Lloyd George is now the father of the House of Commons. Seventy-five years of age, he has been in the political limelight since he was elected as member for Carnarvon in 1890. Previously he had acted as a solicitor. He played a leading part during the Great War ivhen he became Prime Minister at the end of 191 G. In 1918 he and . his Coalition Ministry were returned to power and he became one of the arbiters of the world’s destiny at the Peace Conference. He resigned his Premiership in 1922, and merged his followers; known as National Liberals, with Asquith’s followers in 1923. He then led the party in Parliament, hut in 1931 refused to join the National Government, and uiith only three followers in the House, occupied a detached position.
