Britain’s First-line Air Strength Doubled

(Received 12 Noon.) LONDON, January 11. In connection with criticisms of the Air Ministry, it is reliably stated that the Royal Air Force first-line strength has been doubled since the expansion programme began in the middle of 1935.

There are now five post-war types of bombers being turned out. The Hawker Hurricane fighter, capable of a speed of over 300 m.p.h., is being produced in large numbers. Deliveries will also be made shortly of a new and even faster fighter.
