Lysaght's Employees Give Notice To Strike
(Received 10 a.m.)
SYDNEY, January 10
A wages dispute has arisen at Lysaght’s large galvanised iron works, Newcastle. As a result, the Ironworkers’ Federation is serving two weeks’ notice of intention to strike by the whole of the employees. The trouble originated in a new 'iward prepared by Mr Justice Cantor, if the Industrial Commission, prior to Christmas.
The men say that, in many instances, they are much worse off now, as they are losing from 30/- to 40/- per pay, largely due to the method of calculating the piecework rates.
