The Westfield stock sale was held tc-day, for the first time since the holiday period. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that their yarding of beef was a larger one.
Although there was a steady demand values eased by 10/ to £1 a head, heavier cattle being most affected. Extra choice ox sold to 38/ per 100 lbs.; choice and prime ox. 33/ to 37/; ordinary and plain, 25/ to 32/; prime youngcow and heifer beef, 30/ to 36/; ordinary cow beef, 20/ to 29/. Heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l3 to £l4/2/6; lighter prime steers, £ll/10/ to £l2/15/; light prime steers, £lO to £ 11/7/6; small and unfinished steers, £8 to £9/15/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £9 to £9/10/.
Heavy prime cows and heifers, £7 12/6 to £B/15/; lighter prime cows and heifers, £6/10/ to £7/10/; light prime cows and heifers, £5 to £6/7/6; other killable cows, £2/10/ to £4/15/.
