A medium yarding of fat sheep comprising mostly wethers came forward at the Frankton stock sale yesterday. Competition was firm and values realised were slightly in advance of those ruling before the holidays.
A small yarding of cattle was on hand, comprising mostly medium quality cow beef. The market for baconers was very firm, with pork remaining at values about equal to those ruling prior to the holidays. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., quote:—
Sheep.—Heavy -prime wethers, 30/; lighter, ditto, 27/; small fat two-tooth. 25/3 to 26/3; good fat ewes, 21/; good fat lambs, 23/; "medium, ditto. £1 1/ to £1 2/3; light lambs, 19/3. Cattle.—Good Jersey cows (croSvS), fat, £5, £5 5/ to £5 15/; others, £4 10/ to £5; heavy vealers, £2 16/; lighter, ditto, £1 13/; small calves, 14/ to 21/; heavy boners (Holstein cross), £4 1/; ditto (Jersey sorts), £3 8/ to £3 12/; boner cows, with small calves at foot, £4 5/. Pigs.—Extra prime fat baconers, £3 17/; ditto, prime, £3 10/ to £3 16/; medium, £2 19/ to £3 8/; light baconers and heavy porkers., £2 12/ to £2 18/; good porkers, £2 6/ to £2 11/; lighter, 36/ to £2 4/; unfinished, 32/ to 35/; best stores, 35/ to £2; others, 30/ to 34/; best slips, 26/ to 29/; ethers, 19/ to 25/; weaners, 15/ t® 18/.
