Gibbon Charter Recorded

An American expedition has succeeded in making gramophone records of the complete language of man’s near relative, the gibbon. The monkeys not only made no bones about being recorded, but when the records were played to them they answered back appropriately. Great interest is taken in the gibbon, since it is the only near non-human relation which is both gregarious and monogamous. Though most of what the gibbons said is untranslatable, the expedition hopes to learn from them a great deal about the origins of the human family.
