WAIPU CHOIR'S SOIREE A GRAND SUCCESS
Soiiee is a grand old Scotch word —French in origin, but cherished now by -cots the world over as a title for a concert of more than usual interest. ~,n d, l s was th at when the choir ot the V aipu Presbyterian Church held Jts annual soiree on Wednesday evening last, there was a splendid house to witness the performance. The programme presented was a musical treat and not a few of the items were provided by members of a,? m ? Of outstanding interest was the pianoforte duet by Mrs Muller and Miss Brookes and the quartette by Mr ll e ’ ™ s two sons, Maurice and Jack, and Mr M Taft; and the violin and piano duet by Mr and Mrs Muller.. R. j Wilkes played a violin solo, j Other items that were very well received induded a vocal solo by Miss S\J U0 ’ 3 duet by Mrs J - c - McKay -nd Master Jack Durham; a chorus bv ii e Wa /hy Sunday School; a duet by , Mi and Mrs Yule; a quartette by Mr Mrs and Miss Yule and Mr Taft and a solo by Miss K. Yule
With Miss Marge McKay as soloist, a quaiette by the Waipu choir, also receive loud applause, and another popular item was the Choir’s quartette aeornpanied by a violin. The Sunday -cnool also rendered choruses and a further item of interest was a number j y r a male quartette. M.in\ encores testified to the popu--anty of the programme, and at the conclusion of the entertainment, the Waipu Choirs annual soiree was voted a grand success.
