Why Your Underwear Is Lighter—And Warmer

It is not only because panties have become scanties that the average weight of under-garments has gone down since the days of our grand-

parents. Knitted woollen underwear used to average out at 16 ounces, now it is usually a quarter of a pound lighter, and just as warm, if not warmer. Professor W. Davis has just been explaining why this should be so. It is due to the interspaces between the knitted loops. Air warmed by the body gets caught in these instead of being lost to the outer world.
