Renaming Of Kioreroa Gazetted
The renaming* of “Kioreroa” to “Port Whangarei” as from July 1 next, has been officially notified by a proclamation in the latest Gazette under the authority of the Designation of Districts Act, 1908.
The name “Kioreroa,” which means “Long Rat,” appears to ha.Vc been applied to the neigh- ! bourhood in early Maori times. The Whangarei Harbour Board
I decided on a change of name j some months ago and the new I title has been used for some time.
