j (Received 10 a.m.) ■'V SYDNEY, December 28. In the doubles of the tennis contest between Australia and Germany, Quist and Bromwich defeated Von Cramm and Henkel, 6 —l, 4—6, 6—4, B—6.8 —6. The Germans’ services were superipr to those of the Australians, but Quist and Bromwich were much more sound in general play..

Bromwich’s tosses drove the Germans from the net and made many openings for Quist, who volleyed and smashed irresistibly.
