Outstanding Picture At Regent
Every year in the realm of motion picture productions there are a few which stand out as the classical achievements. Such a picture is that which has come to the Regent Theatre and will screened tonight and tomorrow. “Wings pf the Morning’’ will linger in the memory of those who have seen it and create a demand for more and still more of its kind. It is a picture filled with romance, characterised by a gripping theme, dominated by acting such as is rarely seen on stage or screen, and depicted in technicclour of a high standard.
Like all great books and all classical romances, the theme of “Wings of the Morning" is a theme of ordinary life. That is why “Wings of the Morning” lias broken all records in this and in other countries. It is not the colouring alone; it is net the technique alone; .it is not the scenery alone; nor the acting, nor the story, nor the plot which enwraps one as it unfolds; no, it is not any of these alone, unsurpassed and outstanding as they are. What has made the success of tliis picture is the amazing skill which has brought all these things together. Annabella, the talented French actress, plays-a triple part in the garb of a gipsy beauty, who has, enthralled crowds by her marvellous acting and her beautiful voice; Leslie Banks is the country squire; there is Leslie Fonda, the squire’s nephew, whose romance with Annabella is the theme of the picture; Steve Donoghue, worldfamed jockey,. riding to victory; and there is the famous. John McCormack, whose tenor voice has sounded round Jhe world a hundred times and will do so many more times.
