Mrs Nellie Veta Cranston, aged 2G years, of Cl Wainui Avenue, Point Chevalier. Auckland, and her child.
Mrs Cranston, her husband and their two children were on their way from Auckland to spend the holidays with Mrs Cranston’s brother, Mr W. G. Simmonds, of Napier. The motor-cycle skidded in loose shingle at a turn-off, and overturned. Mrs Cranston was killed outright while her child was taken to the Napier Hospital suffering from serious head injuries. Mr Cranston received attention at the Napier Hospital, and was able to leave. A three-year-old child was uninjured. Mr Simmonds, who */as on the way from Napier to meet his sister, arrived • shortly after the accident occurred.
