'Showery weather was experienced for the second day of the Woodville Jockey Club’s summer meeting. There was again a large attendance and the track was in excellent order. The totalisator investments were £12,461 10/-. compared with £9381 for the second day last year, an increase of £3OBO 10/-. For the meeting the total was £27.479, against £20,621 10/-, an increase of £6857 10/-. Concluding results: —
Novice Stakes, of 80 sovs.; special weights; six furlongs.— (1) Heel Cat. 9.0, 1; (3) Tommy Atkins, 8.4, 2; (2) Lovelit, 8.4, 3. Scr.: Royal Tinge, Guiding Light. Two lengths; a head. Time: 1.14.
Gothard Handicap, of 160 sovs.; one mile and a distance. —(5) Slippery, 7.6, 1; (2) Soho, 7.7, 2; (4) Wildflower, 7.6, 3. Scr.: Grand Jury, Entail. Short head; half a head. Time: 1.55.
Juvenile Handicap, of 100 sovs; five furlongs.—(l) Ivar, 8.4. 1; (5) Jeanne, 7.7, 2; (3) Phil, 7.9, 3. Three other starters. Won by three lengths; six lengths. Time, 1.0 1-5. Railway Handicap, of 130 sovs; six furlongs.—(4) Francis Drake, 8.0 (carried 7.9), 1; (3) Pakanui. 8.5, 2; (1) The Bigot. 8.2, 3. Four other starters. Won by throe lengths each way. Time. 1.13 1-5.
