Hikurangi Doctor's Residence
An offer by the Medical Club at Hikurangi to pay £3O rental this year for the doctor's residence there and £2O a year in future was received very favourably at yesterday’s meeting of the Whangarei Hospital Board. Previously the board had been receiving only £lO per annum from the club for this purpose and this sum proved insufficient to cover maintenance.
Mr A. Clarke said that considering the fact that many miners were out of work and the medical club membership consequently reduced, he thought the club bad made a very fair offer.
Mr A. J. McKay and Mr J. G. Barclay both inquired whether or not the agreement was for a period of years, but the chairman explained that the
arrangements actually were on a year to year basis.
Mr Clarke moved the adoption of 1 lie sub-committee’s recommendation that the offer be accepted. This motion was carried.
