DRAIN ENCROACHES ON BOROUGH PROPERTY

Encroachment on borough council properly of a Whangarei Harbour Board drain was the subject of special mention in the report of the works committee to the Whangarei Borough Council's meeting last night. ''The road through the Hihiaua Block at the lower end of Cameron Street has been re-defined and a plan prepared showing the position of the road with references to the drain constructed by the Whangarei Harbour Board,” the committee reported. “The encroachment by the drain on the road is from nine to 12 feet at one part and wholly on the road at another.” On the recommendation of the committee the council decided that the harbour board should be informed of the encroachment. It is to bo suggested to the board that it should submit remedial proposals for the consideration of the council.
