WEIR GETS PLACE IN AUCKLAND TEAM

Cricket

I Special To Northern Advocate 1 AUCKLAND. This Day. The sole selector to the Auckland Cricket Association. Mr H. Duncan, has chosen the following team to represent the province in the first Plunket Shield match against Otago, commencing at Eden Park on New Year's Day: A. J. Postles (Eden), captain. W. N. Carsort (Eden). G. L. Weir (Whangarei). W. M. Wallace (Parnell). P. E. Whitelaw (Parnell), A. M. Matheson (University). C. K. Jackman (University). V. S. Sale (North Shore). J. Cowie (Grafton). C. Burke (Grafton). H. T. Pearson (King’s Old Boys). G. Wallace (Grafton), twelfth man. H. G. Vivian was not available, owing to a thigh injury which he received during the New Zealand tour. His absence as an all-rounder will weaken the side, which, however-, is well balanced and particularly strong in batting.
