'Change Very Quiet

f Special To “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND. This'Day.

After the busiest call of the week yesterday afternoon, the Stock Exchange was very quiet again this morning. The inquiry for Australian industrials lacked the keenness of the past few days, and there were only four sales in all sections. Auckland Gas shares recovered sharply, moving up to sales at £1 1/-, 6d above Wednesday’s price. Apart from this, and a slight improvement in Taranaki Oils, there was little evidence of life in the market for local securities.

Further easing in Government stocks was reflected in a sale of the 4 per cent 46-49 issue, late yesterday, at £lO2 10/-; and more sellers at the same figure this morning, with buyers offering 10/- less.

Some Australians were quoted a little lower, buyers for Broken Hill Prop., dropping back to £3 3/6, and sellers at £3 4/3. Colonial Sugars, however, rose sharply, £47 7/6 being offered and sellers asking £47 10/-. They were selling at £45 10/- a week ago. a

E.S. and A. Banks, after yesterday’s rise to business at £5 9/- and partial relapse to £5 7/6, were quoted:'this morning from £5 6/- to £5 9/-. ■ Ex div. quotations for Bank of New Zealands lay between £2 3/6 and £2 4/3. and for the D Mortgage shares between £ 1 8/- and £ 1 9/3,
