Mr Hera Te Popo

OBITUARY

The death occurred at Pakaraka recently of Mr Hera Te Popo. at the age of 74 years. Deceased was a well-known identity of the North. He had been in failing health for some time, and spent a short period in the Bay of Islands Hospital. Recently, however, he returned to his home on the farm which shows evidence of his capabilities. During the influenza epidemic of 1918, deceased lost his only son. and his wife predeceased him by several years, being buried at Oromahoe, where deceased was also buried. There was a large attendance at the funeral, when the burial service was read by Mr J. Tunis. Father O’Connor also "poke at the graveside. Deceased is survived by a family of five daughters—Mrs T. Diamond, Moerewa, Mrs P. Wehi, Pakaraka. Mrs W Ashby, Okaihau. Mrs Kaihau. Onehunga, and Miss - Lottie Te Popo. of Onchunga.
