Batting first the pressmen, met with early disaster, losing three for four. However, W. Crawford (12) and Moore (10) stopped the rot and then Davies came in to hit the bowling all over the paddock in making 37. J. Smith was the most successful police bowler, securing the splendid average of eight for 30 in a total of 82. Callanan (13) gave the Force a good Start, and. with R. Then, O’Hara, in attempting a close run, dived to save his wicket and had the misfortune to injure a tendon in his leg. causing his retirement.
Both Wilson and he made 11. and Kelk collected 22 before falling victim to Davies, who with W. Dennis, was the most effective “Advocate” bowler. The last of the Force went off duty with the score at 75, leaving the “Advocate” winners by seven runs.
