CRUISING CLUB’S QUARTERLY MEETING
Mr A. McKenzie. Commodore of the Whangarei Cruising Club, presided over a large attendance at the club's quarterly meeting last evening. After a lengthy discussion on the different racing courses, it was decided that a sketch of the courses be prepared and posted up in the club rooms for the benefit of new members. Mr R. B. Finch was entrusted with the work of preparing the sketches. Discussion on the harbour board’s letter concerning new launch landings resulted iff 1 a decision io retain the present position at the Town Wharf Basin. The harbour board is to be thanked for placing metal along the esplanade. Mr McKenzie drew attention io the lack of support being given the races arranged for boys in the 7 feet 0 inch 's class. These contests wore being held every Saturday, but only one or two boys out of the six or seven available were competing. Ho slated that he would like to see the others taking part, as this class fostered a keen interest in the sport and tiio boys taking part would be the future yachtsmen. Arrangements for Christmas racing will depend on the number of contestants in the mullet boat race from Auckland to Whangarei. commencing on Christmas Eve. and ending probably on Christmas morning, it was stated.
