LOYALISTS ARE STILL CONFIDENT
CIVIL WAR
(Received noon)
BARCELONA, December 9
The Spanisch War Minister, Senor Prieto, issued a statement that the insurgents are daily receiving great quantites of war materials for use in a concerted offensive, but the Republic is confident of the outcome of the war. He appealed to world Democracies not to be duped by the Machiavellian diplomacy, which sheltered the intention to subjugate the world after first attacking easy victims.
The San Sebastian correspondent of “The Times” says Prince Xavier of Bourbon Parma, the provisional Carlist leader, called on General Franco, and declared unswerving allegiance to the insurgents.
This is the first contact made, but it is too early to say whether the dynastic rift has been healed, though it is assumed the hatchet will remain buried till the common enemy is beaten to his knees.
