GIRL SAVES BROTHER FROM HANGING
[Special To "Northern Advocate "] NEW PLYMOUTH. This Day. A young boy, Reginald Watkins, of Tuna, near Stratford, had a narrowescape from death by strangulation He was cut down and saved by his eight-year-old sister after he had be come accidentally suspended by the neck on a rope. Two small girls were swinging on a rope in-, their backyard when then were joined by their brother. Reginald who apparently climbed on a box hordae the* rone. He slipped and h -erne way the rope became twisted about hie neck, and he was suspended In mid-air. The girls at first thought that the boy was playing, but as his frantic actions quietened and he hung inert, the elder of the girls, Clara, realised that the position was serious. She snatched up a nearby saw, and hacked at the rope above her brother’s head. To all appearances the youth was dead, but Dr. W, P. Gordon, of Strut ford, who received an urgent call was able to revive him.
