SANDERS CUP TRIALS.—X and I class boats held several races on the waters of Port Nicholson, X being the Sanders Cup type of boat, and I, Idle Alongs. At TOP, the start of the Sanders Cup trial. Included in the picture are Idono (7), Watti (3), Lauchlan's Jewel (14), Kitty (8), Jannet (12), partially obscured, June (15), Wellesey (9), and Vanguard (11). The other starter, Jean (19), was late in passing the line and does not appear in the picture. BELOW, Idle Alongs starting off on their trial.
(At Left.) FOR RECONDITIONING.—The amphibian from H.M.S. Leander, which overturned while landing on Wellington Harbour , is seen on the tug Kumea on its way to the Hobsonville Air Base for reconditioning.
(Top Left.) OLD BRIDGE TO GO.—The Whirokino Bridge, one of the oldest oh the road between Foxton and Levin, is shortly to be replaced by an up-to-date structure, for which the material has already been assembled on the site. The bridge spans the Manawatu River.
