M.P. s’ COCKTAIL PARTY FOR MISS BATTEN
(Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 30. The Parliamentary Air Committee gave a cocktail party in honour of Miss Jean Batten, in the House of Commons to-night. Many members of Parliament and aviators were present. The chairman, Sir Murray Sueter, described Miss Batten as the most famous flying woman of our time. The airwoman stood on a chair to make a reply. She said aviation in New Zealand and Australia had made tremendous strides since she first flew there in 1934. Mr Everard, chairman of the Royal Aero Club, presented Miss Batten with a gold medal, which is the highest honour that can be bestowed by the club.
