Umawera

A meeting of Umawera branch of the Plunket Society was hold, on November 26. Mrs Perry presided over a fair attendance. All moneys have been banked, and very satisfactory progress is being made. An exhibition of flowers was held in the hall on Saturday afternoon, together with sales tables—one for the funds of the Plunket Society and the other for the Happy Valley Institute. The exhibition was organised by the Happy Valley Institute, who generously gave half the funds of their own table to the Plunket Society, which was much appreciated. The flowers wore greatly admired, and the Umawera public patronised the event well. The Plunket table received articles for sale from all parts of the district, including Tutekehua, Omahuta, Happy Valley, Tio and Umawera. The net sales were Plunket table, £3/6/3; Happy Valley Institute. £4/10/-; proceeds of teas, etc., £l/19/-.
