Queen Nan Wins

Saturday night in Kaikohe was one of great revelry. It was the closing night of the Bay of Islands Queen Carnival, and everyone was on the tip-tee oi’ excitement. The function was a dance, following a horse and motor show in the afternoon. The £IOOO mark aimed at has been greatly exceeded, a total of £1629 i 0 2 having been collected. Forty per cent, of this amount is due to the Bay of Islands Plunket Society for the purpose of obtaining a resident nurse, and the Bay P. and I. and the Kaikohe A. and P. Associations each receive 30 per cent., to be used on improvements to the ground and hall of each society, and which will assist in no small way to the promotion of bigger and more successful shows in the future. The winning queen was Miss Nancy Fausina. the Plunket Queen, with 47.931 votes. Miss Inez Mountain, Bay P. and I. Queen., was second with 47.548 voles, and Miss Joan Dickeson, the Sports’ and Farmers’ Queen, was third with 34,881 votes. Sports Meeting-.
