SWEET PEA JUDGING
Maungatapere And Whatitiri Schools
There was a very pretty display at the judging of sweet peas held at the Maungatapere School. The Whatitiri competitors brought their blooms along in special cars provided by teachers and parents. The judges, Mrs Halliday and Mrs Sharman, commented on the standard of the blooms and complimented the staff and Sweet Pea Club on the trouble they had taken in connection with the shdw. The following are the results of the judging:— Whatitiri, Champion bloom. —Barry Russell 1, Jim Gunson 2, Clarence Gunson 3. Six varieties.—Audrey Edge 1, Jim Gunson 2. Clarence Gunson 3. Four varieties.—Clarence Gunson 1, Jim Gunson 2, Audrey Edge 3. Posy.—Barry Russell 1, Ralph Edge and Audrey Edge, equal, 2; Norene Kerr 3. Winner of judging—Barry Russell. Maungatapere, Champion bloom. —Gao Grace 1. Nadine Seux 2, Shirley Rowland 3. Vase (eight varieties).—Gae Grace 1, Nadine Seux 2, Theodore Maxwell 3. Vase (six varieties).—Gae Grace 1, Nadine Seux 2. Vase (four varieties). —Gae Grace 1, Nadine Seux 2. Minnie Johnson 3. Posy of sweet peas.—Lenora Cadman 1, Gae Grace 2, Eileen Mason 3. Vase arranged for effect. —Gae Grace 1, Eileen Mason 2. Children’s judging.—Peter Grove, Nigel Mason and Norman Stevens, tied for first place.
