NORTHLAND TRIBE
“Advocate” Office, Water St., Whangarei. Tuesday, November 30. 1937.
Dear Northlantlers — . We’ve been judging 1 the Christmas competition. It was just as thrilling as could be. What most impressed us was the great amount of original work received. “Do you think, Kupe . . The Princess looked at me questioningly. “Of course,” I said, knowing full well what was in her mind. “It would be such a help,” she said. And ail that conversation means that you must be partly let into a secret— something that is known to very few people except the Princess and me. All that really concerns you just yet is that we both wish to be free from all duties at Headquarters for a full three weeks quite early In the New Year, and, in order to do this we call on, Young Northlanders to help edit the page while we’re away. What this really amounts to is contributing heaps and heaps of original stories, and verses, copied stories and jokes and riddles. Our page simply cannet be allowed to lose interest, and, though competitions will be suspended for the three weeks when the Princess and I are on holiday, exciting stories by Northlanders will make exceptionally good reading. We’re giving plenty of warning, because we know that stories take more than five minutes to write, A special contributions contest is being arranged to-day with the closing date fixed a month ahead. The prizes are most attractive and we know there’ll be lots of entries. Help us edit the page for three weeks by sending in the very best contributions you can.
Rangatira, Northland Tribe.
