Huarau
On Wednesday afternoon a very enjoyable social was held at the Kate Flower Memorial Hall by the ladies of the Huarau Golf Club, in honour of Miss Lilian Dell, a vice-captain, who is shortly to be married. There was a jolly gathering of the members and friends, and the' afternoon passed very pleasantly indeed. Mrs Knightbridge, accompanied by Mrs D. McLean at the piano, rendered much .appreciated solos, while Miss Edna Cullen’s vocal numbers were also well applauded. A competition caused a lot of merriment, and was won by Mrs Ron Cullen. Mrs Hill, accompanied by Mrs Jenkins, delighted the audience with several soprano solos, and Miss Hazel Cartis-Smith caused quite a Jot of mirth with an appropriate humorous item.
On behalf of the Huarau Golf Club the ladies' captain, Mrs A. Ariel!, presented Miss Dell with a handsome barometer and hoped that it would always point to fair weather. Miss Dell suitably responded and was accorded hearty applause. A very dainty afternoon tea was served and after the singing of the National Anthem the happy gathering departed.
