FINES FOR OBSCENE LANGUAGE

Pleading guilty to using obscene language, and behaving in a disorderly manner. William Henry McGarry. of Pipiwai, appeared before Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M.. at Whangavei, today.

Senior-Sergeant E. Finch, in outlining occurrences on the top of Onerahi hill, said that an argument and fight took place for some time, and that neighbours reported the matter.

With that, Mr. Harrison continued, Ruddell aimed a punch at McGarry, who thus provoked, in the heat of the fight, might have used some of the language complained of. “This happened on a fairiy lonely road, and few people were about,” said the magistrate, who fined accused £2 and costs for using obscene language and 15/-. with 25/- costs, for disorderly conduct.
