Maungakaramea Presbyterian Show

The flower and industrial show held at Maungakaramea under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church was a great success from every point of view. Support -was forthcoming from Mangapai, Portland. Waikiekie, Waiotira, Tauraroa and Maungakaramea schools and there were also exhibitors from Whangarei All who were responsible for the show are to be heartily congratulated upon the success of their efforts. The show was opened by the Mayoress of Whangarei, Mrs W. Jones. Among the visitors were the Rev. | and Mrs Brown. In the evening an excellent concert was given, most of the items being by Mangapai artists. The programme, which was arranged by Mrs Hill, was as follows:

Carter, Harvey, Thomson and Rixon and Misses Ferris and Finlayson; song, Mr E. Hill; pianoaccordion solo, Mr R. Gibbons; Sheauntriubahs, N. Carter. I. Walker, M. Finlayson and G. Ormandy; play, ‘‘The First of April.” Mesdarnes Finlayson. Kill. S. Crawford and Miss Wakelin; Irish Jig, Mangapai girls. Mr Melville, during the concert, expressed his gratitude to all who had so willingly helped to make the show such a success.

At the conclusion of the concert, the chairman, Rev. Elliott, with the assistance of the president, Mrs Hilton Walker, presented the trophies won during the day.
