On the principle that “seeing is believing,” those avlio have inspected samples of Kerikcri oranges at present on exhibition in the AvindoAV of the publishing room of the “Advocate” must be convinced of the excellence of

the fruit and the adaptability of the Kerikeri district to the growing of citrus. With the exception of one sample, which was picked from a tree approximately half a century old, the oranges are the fruit of trees about three years of age. It is not difficult, therefore, to visualise the future value of Northland’s big citrus plantations, which are even now contributing largely to the Dominion’s wealth. A particularly interesting feature of the fruit on exhibition in the “Advocate” window is the refutation it provides of the statement that ironstone country is unsuitable for the growth of oranges. The excellence of oranges grown on such country provides all the evidence required to justify the high hopes reposed in the citrus industry at Kerikeri,
